Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
As we dive into the year 2022,it seems as if things are just picking up from last year and actually ramping up. Wars and rumors of wars continue to lead in the headlines. natural disasters are more abundant, crime doesn’t seem to slow down, despite the millions of dollars being poured in to cities, states and even non-profit organizations, in an attempt to curb the state of affairs. Families are being shredded, churches are dividing, and children are being left to a future of their own making. Oh, and lest I remind you, that men’s hearts are failing.
Jesus implores us to come to him for a Reset. His rest is a Reset. We can come to Him with our baggage, but when we leave, we leave with His. He wants to show us exactly how to take our burdens and drop it off at His feet. Many of us are so accustomed of solving not only our problems, but others’ as well. We have had it ingrained in our psyche that if we are going to change, it must be up to us. And so we work, we slave, we become exhaust ourselves trying to “make things right”, when the truth is, we can’t. We must allow the Spirit of God to do this.
So this year, let us practice what I call a Reset. Let us learn how to come to Christ every day, and say “OK, Lord. I want a fresh start. From this moment on, I give you full access and full control.” If we can begin to visualize the Holy Spirit taking control, then we will see the change that Jesus can do. Today, Jesus says “Come” and start your Reset.
